What We Offer
The talented instructors at the Metropolitan Ballroom teach a variety of International and American Style Ballroom dances, including Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Samba, Tango, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Quick Step, Shag, West Coast Swing, Nightclub, Salsa, and Argentine Tango among numerous other dances for youths and adults.
Introductory Offers:
All newcomers (singles and couples) receive a free private dance lesson to evaluate your skills and help set your goals. Along with this, we offer a special introductory package of 5 private lessons to singles or couples for $250. Call now to begin your first lesson (704) 364-1871! Private Lessons:
Private lessons, which are tailored to your individual goals and objectives, give you one-on-one training time with one of our instructors. Our lessons are structured to give you the most dance time possible, while leaving ample time to evaluate how well you are progressing towards your goals. We make sure to take the time to talk about what you want to accomplish, how long this will take, and what it will cost in time, effort and money. Private lessons are great for someone who wants to reach a new level of proficiency quickly or simply desires to get a personalized introduction into the world of dancing. Semi-private lessons can also be arranged for groups that want to learn to dance together, yet still desire the direct attention of an instructor.
Group Lessons:
Group social lessons at the Metropolitan Ballroom offer an entirely different experience from private lessons. We guarantee lots of laughter and learning in a cohesive group setting as you practice patterns with your classmates and your instructor. Not only will you acquire new steps and clear fundamentals, but you will also get a chance to put these moves into practice as you learn alongside your fellow students. This is a great social opportunity, and it will prepare you to dance with people of all skill levels, dispositions and abilities.
It is also the most economical way to learn to dance. One month of unlimited group classes is only $59 and one class drop-ins are $10! Group classes vary month to month. Be sure to check the group calendar so you don’t miss out.
Youth Dance Lessons:
Tatiana Kazakova introduced Metropolitan Ballroom’s first youth Ballroom and Latin dance class. This class will be held on Saturdays at 10am. This class is open to kids ages 5-7. Competitions:
Dancing for those interested in competition, we proudly point to our staff, which features four competitors that have either trained with or competed against many of the professionals you see on shows like Dancing with the Stars or So You Think You Can Dance. Additionally, these instructors have competed at the Blackpool Festival – the granddaddy of all dance competitions – and placed in the top performance echelons. Their personal instructors are the coaches of world champions and the authors of the Certification Manuals touted by franchised studios as their “advantage” over independent studios. All-in-all, we believe our instructors are the best in the city, and they will help you get results in a competitive environment if that is your goal.
Dance Parties:
Additionally, we also host a themed dance parties on the fourth Friday of every month, where our students come together to have a great time and enjoy their progress in a relaxed environment. With a variety of fun themes, and the opportunity to step out of the usual routine and dance the night away, these dance parties are always a great hit with our students. Whether you come alone or bring a partner, you’ll always have someone to dance with — be it a fellow student, a significant other, a good friend, or one of our fantastic instructors. Students and drop-ins are always welcome. Our studio is also a home for Charlotte Tango Society, Passion for Tango and the Charlotte chapter of USA Dance organization, all of which host their milongas and dances at our studio every month. Showcase / Recitals:
We offer several special programs that give our students a chance to shine and show off their newly acquired dance moves. Every year, we have at least two student recitals, which we call Showcases. In our Showcases, many students dance with their instructors, some dance with their spouses or partners, and we often have a large group number that features every performer who wants to join in. These are a lot of fun: we all get to dress the part, and most importantly, we have a blast putting on the show for friends and families.
Wedding Packages / First Dance:
If you are planning your wedding, we can help! Our staff will help you perform the perfect First Dance at your Reception. You choose your favorite music and our instructors will work with your to learn a choreographed dance made special for the skills of you and your mate. We have 5 and 10 lesson packages which include the choreography and a video of you dancing for only $375 and $695. What a way to get connected before your wedding plus impress your family and guests with your romantic performance. We can also teach mothers and fathers of the bridal party, as well as your attendants and other participants.
Ballroom Rentals:
Metropolitan Ballroom would love the opportunity to host your next party or event. Our ballroom is ideal for wedding receptions, birthday parties, anniversaries, rehearsal dinners and so much more. We can accommodate up to 189 people for a cocktail reception, and 150 for a formal seated dinner.
In addition to our beautiful 3,000 square foot ballroom we have a smaller dance studio and a 1,000 square foot bar and lounge area for your guests to mingle.
To spice up your event, one of our seven professional instructors can provide a special dance class or performance. This adds extra fun and excitement, making your event more unique. Our internationally-renowned dance instructors can provide the same excitement that you see on Dancing with the Stars.
For the bride and groom, we teach special dance lessons for couples that include a unique choreographed First Dance and a video so they can practice at home. The tailored First Dance is offered with a 5 or 10 lesson package. Of course, parents can learn a dance too. Call us for your complimentary lesson and we will get you started!
